Is red due after a long run of black?

No. The wheel has no memory: after ten blacks in a row, red has exactly the same chance as on any other spin. Long runs simply happen more often than people expect.

Red wins 48.65% of spins on a single-zero wheel, after any run. Ten blacks in a row starting now: 1 in 1,347. In 1,000 spins (about a day at one table), the chance of seeing at least one run of ten blacks: 31.6%.

Single-zero wheel, where black and red each win 18 of 37 spins and zero takes the rest. “Somewhere in 1,000 spins” is the exact chance that 1,000 spins contain at least one run that long.

Why

Each spin is a new, independent event, so the chance of red never moves. What feels like a pattern is just how often long runs show up: over a full day of spins, a run of eight or more of one color is close to certain. Scoreboards that show the last results make those runs easy to see, which is why they are there.
